Meet The Expert at Skin 365 – Nicola Lowrey PA-C, M.P.A.P recently celebrated her one year anniversary with Skin 365 but she has been providing expert aesthetic services for many years. Enjoy getting to know Nicola a little better with a few questions we asked her…
Why and how did you get into the field of aesthetic medicine?
I remember I was in my second year of my PA Program at USC when a teacher of ours who worked in Dermatology/Aesthetics offered to do a “botox party” for our study group. I was 27 years old and didn’t really have any real wrinkles yet, but I was very curious. I loved the results. It lifted my eyebrows and relaxed my frown/furrow making my eyes seem more open and wider. I also thought that it made sense how the product could prevent wrinkles from forming over time. I knew that when I graduated and could start practicing medicine, that I would somehow incorporate aesthetic injectables into my career.
My first professional job as a Physician Assistant was in the Emergency Room. It was there that I learned how to perform many procedures, including complex, detailed facial laceration repairs. I spent many hours along side plastic surgeons and studied their techniques with great interest. I had found that I loved the hands on procedure work that we are able to perform. Because of my passion for it, I became very good at it. I remember that I became the “go to seamstress” for the most complicated cases; no one else wanted to do them. It was too much responsibility. After all, a lip laceration that is repaired even 1 millimeter off can leave the patient with a horrible cosmetic outcome. It was so fulfilling to be able to help these people and give them beautiful results.
Finally after a couple of years had passed and my career was off to a running start, I was able to get certified in aesthetic injectable procedures. It really has become my creative outlet for my career. I enjoy the procedural aspect, I love the social aspect and it’s such an amazing, growing field of medicine. I have injected now for over 10 years. There is always something new coming out. There is always more to learn. I love it!

How do you embrace the Skin 365 core values?
Skin 365 is dedicated to providing our clients with quality in everything we do. We strive for safety, injectable expertise, patient education and superior outcomes.
The core values of this wonderful office are what attracted me to it in the first place. I remember first meeting JoLyn, about 8 years ago, at an injector training held in this office. I heard about a master injector forum that she was a part of. I was so impressed and wanted to be a part of this group of amazing experts. In order to be the best, you can never be complacent with the status quo. You must strive to hone your skills and learn the new techniques that are coming out. You must understand the anatomy of the face and how the aging process works. We have the most amazing opportunities here to create the safest, most informative and excellent results for our clients..
Its a wonderful feeling being aligned with your work peers. That’s where the magic is created. We are all on the same page.
